The Practice is a member of the Central Borders Doctors Co-operative, known as BECS (Borders Emergency Care Service), which provides general medical services (emergencies) from 6.00pm to 8.00am Monday to Friday, and from 6pm on a Friday through to 8am on a Monday over a weekend. Public Holidays are also covered by this service. If you need to see or speak to a GP out of hours, please contact NHS24 on 08454 242424.

Please note that the Primary Care Out-of-Hours Centre covering our Practice area is situated at the Borders General Hospital, Melrose. Home visits can only be made by BECS for those who are too unwell to travel.

Home visits:

Home visits are for patients who are too ill or infirm to visit the Surgery. If possible your request should be made before 10.00am, giving the receptionist an indication of the problem and the urgency. This allows the doctor to act appropriately. We ask patients to note that we can see four or five patients in the Surgery in the time that a home visit normally takes.

Repeat prescriptions:

You will receive a re-order form attached to your prescription when medication is to be repeated. Please use it to request your repeat prescriptions. Telephone requests should be avoided if possible, as this can result in error, and engages busy lines and staff.

We operate a 48 HOUR service, which excludes Saturday and Sunday. This means that your repeat prescription will be checked, signed, and ready after this time. Please note that any time in post is not included in this timescale.

Suggestions/Complaints:

We have a practice complaints policy, which is closely monitored and our Practice Manager will assist with any comments, commendations or complaints.
