Making an appointment: 01361 885040
We offer a flexible system of urgent, next day and routine appointments. All appointments are of 10 minutes’ duration, and you are free to choose the doctor you would like to see. The purpose of the morning surgery is to see patients with urgent medical problems the same day. Please phone after 8.00 am for an appointment.
Out of hours: 08454 242424
Out of hours care is arranged by NHS Borders. If you require urgent medical advice or attention out of hours (between 6pm and 8am Monday to Friday and 6pm Friday to 8am Monday) please telephone NHS24 on 08454 242424. Calls will be handled in different ways depending on the nature of the complaint.
Your call will be taken by a trained call handler who will ask you a number of questions about your symptoms to decide how you can best be treated.
- Advise you how you can treat symptoms yourself
- Ask you to visit your local pharmacy for further advice
- Ask you to attend one of the local minor injuries units eg Duns or Kelso
- Ask you to attend the Borders Emergency Care Service at BGH
- If medically necessary, arrange for a local nurse or doctor to visit you at home
- Arrange an ambulance for you if you need one.
NHS24 is also available for text phone users with hearing and speech difficulties by calling 18001 08454 242424.
Home visits:
If you are too ill to attend the surgery, please request a visit by telephone before 10am so that the doctors can plan their visits with the minimum of delay.
Repeat prescriptions:
We now use the tear-off part of prescription forms for reordering repeat prescriptions. These will be given to patients by the chemist along with their repeat medication. When a further supply is required simply mark the drugs required on the form and hand it in at reception or to Mr Romanes, our local chemist. Please allow up to two full working days for your medication to be dispensed. Anyone who is unable to hand this form in to either reception or the chemist and who wishes to order repeat medication should either post the reorder slip in to the surgery or phone our dedicated repeat prescription line 01361 885044. Patients should no longer phone the surgery line to order repeat prescriptions.
Suggestions/Complaints:
If you have any comments on the medical services provided please ask to speak to the Practice Manager.
