Making an appointment:

To make an appointment, please phone between 8:00am and 6:00pm Monday - Friday

Out of hours: 08454 242424

When the surgery is closed (see 'Surgery hours' above) you should telephone the NHS 24 helpline on 08454 24 24 24 who will give appropriate advice or will refer you to Borders Emergency Care Service (BECS), the out of hours service operated by NHS Borders. (BECS replaced BORDOC in November 2004).

Home visits:

If you are too ill to come to the surgery, a house visit can be arranged. If possible, requests for home visits should be made before 10.30am so that the doctors can plan their working day.

Repeat prescriptions:

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered by handing in the form attached to your printed prescription at the surgery reception, or by telephoning 01896 661360. Please phone for repeat prescriptions AFTER 11.00am - this makes it easier for patients requiring urgent appointments to get through.

You should allow at least 48 hours for your prescription to be ready, as all prescriptions are checked and signed by the doctors between surgeries, clinics, house calls etc.. If you supply a stamped addressed envelope we will be happy to post your prescription to you, but do take account of the extra time this will take to get to you.

Some local chemists collect prescriptions from the surgery on behalf of patients. This can be a convenient service for patients on regular medication or who find coming to the surgery inconvenient, but please remember:

  • you should contact the chemist of your choice to make these arrangements initially
  • you must always tell us when you order a repeat prescription that it is to be collected by a chemist
  • this service will add to the length of time between ordering your prescription and being able to collect your medication.

Sometimes you will be asked to see your doctor before receiving further supplies of medication, to check that all is well.

Suggestions/Complaints:

Any useful suggestions or comments to help us run a better service can be posted n the suggestions box at reception. Alternatively please feel free to discuss any problems/complaints with the service directly with the Practice Manager or your doctor.
