Community Rehabilitation Team (Galashiels)
What we do:
The Borders Community Rehabilitation Team work with adults who suffer severe and enduring mental illness and have complex needs requiring the support of the multidisciplinary team. Mental illness may include schizophrenia, or types of psychosis.
When are we open:
The Team operates largely between the hours of 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Arrangements out with these times can be made with individual clients on an irregular basis.

About our services:
The Community Rehabilitation Team provides and facilitates community-based support and individual care packages. We offer a multi-disciplinary approach involving interventions of the following nature, monitoring of health and social functioning, monitoring medication, networking with voluntary sector and other agencies e.g. housing, educating and advising clients/carers, family support. We also provide activity groups e.g. walking, swimming and facilitate holidays.
Service Aim
The Borders Community Rehabilitation Team aims to work together with clients and carers, to provide a quality service which both meets their needs and respects their views. Our approach is one of an equal partnership requiring openness and honesty from both service users and providers alike.
Information for Clients and Carers
There is an abundance of written literature held in the Team office, for distribution to clients, carers and support workers, from sources such as MIND, SANE, NSF and MDF. Most of the information sharing is via the Team members on a one to one basis with clients and their respective carers.

The team includes the following staff:
- Consultant Psychiatrist
- 1 Staff Grade Psychiatrist
- 1 Occupational Therapist
- 1 Social Worker
- 4 Community Psychiatric Nurses
- 1.5 Team Secretary
- 1 Support Worker
How to access our services:
Referrals are accepted from all existing Community Mental Health Teams. We endeavour to respond within a few weeks of the referral being made.
