Welcome to the AHP student information section of our web site. In this section you will find information which may be of interest to AHP students who are either coming or are thinking of coming to NHS Borders for a pre-registration student placement.

In NHS Borders AHP services we take pride in the quality of the pre-registration practice education we provide and we are sure that should you opt to come to NHS Borders for a placement that you will most certainly have an enjoyable, worthwhile and informative experience.

More detailed information relating to the specific professions is available from the Practice Placement co-ordinators. Your university will be able to give you the details of them.

    All students should bring photographic ID with them for the first day of placement in line with NHS Borders Pre-employment and Pre-placement Policy.
  • Banking Facilities
    ATMs
    Borders General Hospital - free
    Local supermarkets: main supermarkets in Borders are Tesco, Asda, Marks and Spencer, Co-op, Morrisons, Somerfield.
    Banks and Building Societies
    Most bases are not far from a bank and/or building society. These are listed in the Yellow Pages, Thomson Local Directory or the phone book. Many supermarkets have cashback facilities.
  • Dining Facilities
    Kelso Community Hospital - No canteen but soup and sandwiches can be bought or staff can bring own food and eat in the dining room. WRVS shop open 1.00- 4.00 for hot drinks and snacks.
    Hawick Community Hospital- WRVS shop open part-time for hot drinks and snacks.
    Knoll Hospital, Duns - Canteen where a range of food can be bought.
    Haylodge Hospital, Peebles - WRVS shop open part-time for hot drinks and snacks.
  • Travel
