Ward 17

Ward 17 is a mixed antenatal (AN) and postnatal (PN) ward consisting of one AN bay of 3 inpatient beds and 3 day care recliner chairs and 2 PN bays, each with 5 inpatient beds. There are also 4 single side rooms which are used for women with a medical need. Side rooms maybe available as Amenity rooms at a cost of £62 Per night (Price as of November 2010) if they are not already needed for medical reasons.

Ward 17 is located on the 2nd floor of the BGH.  A security system is also in place with intercom entrance to wards and all babies have a security bracelet attached at all times.

Ward visiting is – 2.30pm – 4.30pm & 6.30pm – 8pm

Partners and baby’s siblings can visit at anytime

(Other children under 16 years of age are not allowed)

Antenatal Rooms

Following delivery, assistance is offered to all Mum’s with baby feeding and other aspects of care.

Before going home, all babies require a full examination and Midwives who are trained in Examination of the Newborn or a Paediatrician will do this. Routine hearing screening tests will also be carried on the ward.
